Emergency Services
For any Emergency Call 911
Bowen Island has almost everything needed for the care and health of our community. The only thing lacking is a medical clinic or hospital.
Health
With two Family medical practitioners resident to the island, a supporting pharmacist, a visiting Dentist most needs of the community are served.
In addition to these there are practicing physiotherapists, chiropractors and massage therapists. All keep to Bowen Islanders as healthy as they can.
Ambulance
Our island has its own BC ambulance station number 225 situated on Miller Road which is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There are efficient procedures in place for transporting patients off island to hospital using either a dedicated water taxi service with Cormorant Marine, a BC Ambulance helicopter or just taking our ambulance on the ferry into Vancouver. Our residents and visitors are well protected in the case of a 911 emergency.
Fire
Bowen Island Volunteer Fire & Rescue 26 member strong department is a well trained group of local, hardworking people, willing to drop what they are doing and go into action the minute a call comes. They respond to over 100 calls a year, many of them medical emergencies. When a call comes in the volunteers head to the fire hall with their vehicles flashers on. Please safely allow them to pass on their way.
Police
Three RCMP officers serve Bowen well patrolling, answering all emergency 911 calls, and giving a helping hand. They often take the time to chat with groups in the schools and our teen centre even hosting an annual Garage sale to support teen centre activities. The detachment also owns a mountain bike, purchased through community support, to assist patrolling of our many trails in the park and surrounding areas.
